Comments about Carbona® Stain Devils No. 5 Spot Remover (401/24) - 6 Pack:
With High Efficiency washers and modern detergents, it can sometimes be hard to remove "oil stains", especially from dark clothing. You know, you eat popcorn at the theater and a piece falls on your dark blue (or red, or whatever) shirt. After your shirt is laundered, you find a darker spot where the popcorn landed. Very irritating! The oil was distributed in the wash and bound itself tightly to the fabric. Washing it again does not fix the problem.
I am certain this never was a problem when phosphates were in detergents, but they aren't anymore. Squirting some Carbona Stain Devil No. 5 on the spot and returning the shirt immediately to the washer works every time for me. Of course, it probably works better to actually follow the instructions, but I have been using this product so long I have forgotten what they are.
I have tried many different removers of a similar nature. Many work well, but few are as reliable or simple to use. If you are smart enough to treat the spot before you wash it the first time, only the first wash is required for a clean garment--but treat all the spots.
Of course, I suppose I could give up popcorn.
