Quality seems good enough for the price. However, it seems a bit small overall. There is a large storage space at the bottom which seems a bit of a waste of space. Also the wheels are a bit cheap and the nuts and bolts do not come with locking washers, so the wheels may come loose in time. The gauge of steel is good enough since it is a small unit. I just use it in the garage for some tools for light maintenance. The top box of shelf unit does mount to the base with two screws which are very a bit difficult to attach, so I left them off. Only two of the wheels lock and rotate.

I was working in a rental yard as a part time small engine mechanic. Needed a place to store the standard mechanic tools. This box did the job quite well but they went to a lighter gauge steel on both bottom and top box. Gives it that junk feel and sound whenever you touch it. And some of it could be helped if they'd supply the rubber drawer liners it should come with instead of trying to stick you for another 20 bucks per drawer for it after. The wheels are no good because #1 Two are stationary and two turn. Makes it stick a lot when trying to pull or push it anywhere. #2 The wheels are attached to 14 gauge steel and bolted to 25 gauge steel. You put weight in the box that 25 gauge just pushes right up in there and locks the wheels. For Pete's sake's it doesn't take rocket science to realize you need to add additional support at minimum where the wheels are.Once again the cost kind of balances the problems out. If you're somewhat handy you can remedy these issues quite easily and cheap. "minus the rubber drawer liners". After correcting it it's been with me over 30 years. Drawer slides are also flimsy now compared to my first 3 drawer box I put back in service.

Comments about Craftsman 6 Drawer Standard Duty Tool Center (00932318):

I bought this at a charity auction for a song. It is much better than expected. Perfect for my home tools. Not made for heavy duty or a pro mechanic or serious weekend wrencher. I bought some tool mat at the dollar store that covered the entire chest top to bottom for $6.00. Don't buy the Sears single drawer sheets for $20. The mat is in the kitchen area in the dollar store. As far as attaching the boxes together, the bottom chest only needs to attach to middle chest if you have one. If you just have top and bottom you do not need to attach them. If your top chest is loaded so heavy that it tips over when two drawers are open you are overloaded and need to buy a heavier duty chest system. Remember to put light weight tools up top. Heavy tools lower. Sockets and wrenches should be waist high. Screw drivers chest high. Small and delicate tools go up top. To the guy who is. Using his for his firearms supplies, that is great! I'm leaving for the store now to buy a new combo for the tons of gear and cleaning supplies that support my growing family if Sigs. Thanks for a great idea!

As a single female whose husband took all the power tools I was excited about this purchase as a way to organize what I had left and figure out what tools I need to obtain. Unfortunately there are holes to attach the top to the bottom cabinet, but they don't line up. Now it has been sitting there for a month and I am very unhappy. Don't try to call a help line. If you aren't placing an order, they don't care. They say to go back to the store.

This toolbox, in my opinion, is a good light weight toolbox. I would not use it for anything heavy. I bought it with a specific purpose. The purpose was to store my gun cleaning supplies and accessories in it.. It works very well with the purpose.

I purchased 3 of these in 1996 for my job as a light duty mechanic and upon job transfer took them home. They have held up great with daily use and I am planning to buy 3 more. The bottom compartment holds my power tools. I don't think you can get a better bargain for home use. I sure my kids will get many years of use from them and my Crafstman tools when I'm gone!
