This product is CHEAP. The plastic gears stripped and broke the first time I used it. This is the second scott's spreader I have purchased and will most assuredly be the last.

Bought this based on it's size and the Scotts name.
This model is all plastic, including the axles and the shaft from the hopper to the dispersal plate. During the third use (1500 s.f. area) the dispersal plate fell off,making it useless. I experienced the same problem with with hopper door sticking and wasting products.

Just about everything is plastic. Hopper door sticks, fertilizer or lime pellets continue to flow which can burn sod and/or waste products. The agitator in the hopper is plastic, does not hold up to more than one use, twirls off rotator, rendering entire spreader useless. So what you're buying is a throw-away spreader after a single use or two. DON'T BUY!!!!!

Works much better than any drop spreader I've had, better distribution, especially with slightly damp product.

Door that opens to disperse product gets stuck. Thus you are not able to start and stop spreading. Returned and got replacement at a different store. Same problem.
Finally, after less than a year the agitator broke, making it useless.
Do NOT buy.
