Comments about Kreg® Pocket-Hole Screw Kit (SK03):
If you are doing pocket hole joinery with a Kreg jig, you really should use the Kreg screws. Other screws will not work as well. Why? The Kreg screws are designed especially for the pocket hole joint. The screw heads have a flat, washer-like edge that will "stop" the screw at the right depth, preventing it from poking through the edge of the wood. Of course, if you use an impact driver (and who doesn't these days?), you still need to be a bit careful, and get the "feel" for when the screw head reaches the stopping point. But these screws make that a whole lot easier. Secondly, the screws have a "self-tapping tip" which helps assure that they will drive in more accurately and quickly. If you are doing 2x4 construction, then you need the 2 and one-half inch screws. Kreg makes these "weather-proof" (blue-coated). If you own any of the Kreg jigs, they include a chart that tells you exactly what size screw to use with any thickness of wood. I find that Kreg jigs and accessories are very well designed and make work easy.
