Installing Satellite Accessories

ACE satellite accessories include the satellite finder, diplexers, multi-switches, in-line amplifiers, splitters, RG6/U and RG6/U Quad coaxial cables, and connectors. Not included in the ACE product offering are the satellite dish, dish satellite receiver and LNB's.

Satellite Dish and Amplified Antenna to Satellite Receivers Using Diplexers

By installing a diplexer rated for amplified antennas near the dish/antenna location, signals can be combined into one cable and delivered to a diplexer at the satellite receiver location. The diplexer at the satellite receiver location should be rated non-amplified and separates satellite signal and antenna signal to feed into the satellite receiver.

  • With diplexers the key benefit is only one coaxial cable from the dish location to the receiver location.
  • Use RG6/U or RG6/U Quad coaxial cable for all satellite connections.
  • Diplexers 3107646 and 3174935 should be indoors and not exposed to weather.
  • Connectors recommended are RG6/U or RG6/U Quad crimp-on weatherproof connectors.

NOTE: Without a diplexer, two coaxial cables are required from the dish and antenna location to the receiver location.

Dual LNB Dish with Multi-Switch and Diplexers

The ACE multi-switcher can provide output up to four satellite receivers. Antenna signals can also be distributed to the same four satellite receivers by running cable from the antenna into the antennal input terminal of the multi-switcher. From the multi-switcher, non-amplified diplexers then separate the satellite signal and antenna signal to feed into the satellite receivers.

  • Use RG6/U or RG6/U Quad for all satellite connections.
  • Place multi-switch near satellite dish and do not expose to weather.
  • Diplexers must be non-amplified at the satellite receiver locations.
  • Connectors recommended are RG6/U or RG6/U Quad crimp-on weatherproof connectors.

Using the Satellite Finder

The ACE multi-switcher can provide output up to four satellite receivers. Antenna signals can also be distributed to the same four satellite receivers by running cable from the antenna into the antennal input terminal of the multi-switcher. From the multi-switcher, non-amplified diplexers then separate the satellite signal and antenna signal to feed into the satellite receivers.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Connect a jumper cable from LNB/Dish to the "TO LNB" connection on the Satellite Finder.

Connect the cable from your satellite receiver to the "TO REC" input on the Satellite Finder.

Make sure satellite receiver is turned on. The Satellite Finder's scale should be lighted at this time and the meter reading should be around 2.

Adjust dish to the proper azimuth and elevation settings. (This information should be supplied with your dish.)

Set the Satellite Finder's scale reading to approximately 5 by adjusting the level control found on the face of the Satellite Finder. (Turning the knob clockwise will increase the reading.)

(a) Optimize the signal by slowly moving the azimuth and elevation of the dish. (b) If the Satellite Finder's reading becomes full scale, adjust the level control knob to reduce the reading to around 5. (Turning the knob counterclockwise will decrease the reading.) Repeat (a) and (b), moving the dish until you have the highest possible meter reading.

Remove the jumper cable and Satellite Finder and reconnect the LNB to your receiver.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • To avoid a continuous full scale reading, do not use the Satellite Finder directly in front of the dish.
  • When using a LNB/LNBF with gain higher than 60dB, insert a 5 dB attenuator between the LNB/LNBF and the Satellite Finder.
  • If the meter needle is jumping, the sensitivity is too high. Reduce the sensitivity by adjusting the S.A. (sensitivity adjustment) located on the back of the Satellite Finder.

Using the In-Line Amplifier

For coaxial cable runs in excess of 100 feet, Ace 20 dB In-Line Satellite Amplifier is recommended.

When using a multi-switch, the In-Line Amplifier should be located between satellite dish and satellite multi-switch.

Using the Satellite Splitters

Satellite splitters take one 75 ohm input from the satellite receiver and splits into multiple 75 ohm outputs. Satellite splitters must be 2 GHz rated operating in the 40-2050 Mz range. Video splitters in the 5-900 MHz range will not operate for satellite. ACE product offerings are 2, 3, and 4-way satellite splitters.

IMPORTANT:

  • Do not split satellite signal until signal has been processed and outputted by the satellite receiver.
  • The two TVs in this example will not operate independently. Each will display the same image determined by the satellite receiver.
