Shaw Ace Hardware

Parham Shaw and Payne Sneed opened Shaw & Sneed's Hardware on the Oxford Square in 1951. In 1963, they became part of the Ace Hardware company, and it became Sneed's Hardware a few years later when Payne bought out Parham. The store moved just off the Square in 1987 to its current (larger) location on University Avenue. Today, Shaw Ace Hardware is owned by Parham's grandson David Shaw and David's wife Susan. David began working for the store part-time in high school, joined full-time after college as the bookkeeper, and worked his way up to being part-owner with the Sneeds in 1998. He now has more than 40 years of experience serving the hardware needs of our community.
