About This Store
Porters Building Centers began as Kearney Lumber Company on June 7th of 1952. The company started in an abandoned horse and buggy lumberyard which was housing mules, hogs and chickens in Kearney, Missouri by Mack and Mary Helen Porter. Mack cashed in the revenue generated from three years of teaching math, science, and coaching. Mary Helen sold her new car. The company has grown to six locations in KC and the Ozarks. Our Laurie location has been serving the local community since the late 80's.
