Buying a new crock for fermenting pickles made the most sense for me. You never know what may been put into an antique, except family heirlooms of course. I bought 2 of these last year and they are perfect for large batches of pickles. Get it where you want first, before fermenting. They are heavy to move once full. American made quality.

This is perfect for making a big batch of pickles. Probably wouldn't want it any bigger than 5 gal. cause it's a bit heavy when full. The only thing I would change is that it would come with a lid.
