I trust that the paraffin oil "breed" regardless of manufacturer is the cleanest burning. I tend to get a bit nauseus with kerosene fumes so appreciate that this oil smells more like a candle. I have purchased this brand both from ACE and locally and it really is clean...no complaints.
I believe that this oil burns less brightly than does kerosene. I have my hunch why but since I am not a combustion engineer my explanation is worth little. Also, ACE had been shipping this product home and no longer does that so while it saves a bit on shipping to pick this up at a local store it is not convenient.

We have tried different Oils for lamps.This Oil Flame is smokeless. All others create smoke and soot blackening the walls. We keep a oil lamp burning 24/7 in a prayer room.

We got hit with the January 2009 ice storm in far western Kentucky - all the stores sold out of this lamp oil right away and with good reason - it is virtually smokeless, odorless, and the lamps using it give off great light AND heat. I immediately ordered 4 one gallon bottles from Ace Hardware online, and they got it to me in 3 days. We have a generator but this lamp oil was a great help in heating other rooms where I put the lamps. No matter where you live (we used to live in upstate NYS and used this oil in lamps when winter blizzards knocked out power), I highly recommend getting some decorative oil lamps and stocking a couple of gallons of this wonderful oil.

I often have trouble finding lamp oil, when I need it the most, such as during power outages. This time, I opted to stock up, before it became a time-critical issue. The four, gallon-sized jugs of 99% pure paraffin oil from Lamplight Farms, make keeping my laterns burning brightly and cleanly, an easy task. Lower-quality oil will leave your house with a soot-coating, that is difficult to remove.
At just over 11-cents per ounce, and free shipping to my local Ace Hardware store, where I buy my lamp oil, is a no-brainer!
The only suggestion I would add, would be to find a smaller container to use for filling your lamps and lanterns, and refill it from these gallon-sized jugs. Trying to fill some of my smaller lamps with the large container has resulted in mild overfills. Luckily, lamp oil is very stable, and easy to clean up.
