I have seen a couple of mice (not the computer variety) in my house recently. I thought if I did a through cleaning they would leave. But, my 14+ year old dog likes to have food available 24/7. Which is a perfect recipe for mouse-buffet. Last night, I saw 2 mice IN THE CUPBOARD!!! They had chewed open the popcorn, oatmeal, sesame seeds, and who knows what else. I tried to grab them with gloved hands, but that didn't work. So, I got a trash bag and cleared the entire cabinet. I saw this product on the Ace hardware website and thought I would give it a try.
I left the Ace store about 7:50pm and rode my motorcycle around for 30 to 45 minutes. Then I set the 4 traps out using a tiny spot of peanut butter as bait and went in the other room. Couldn't have been 10 minutes later WHAMP! Walked back into the computer room, there was a mouse tail hanging out of the trap (again not the computer variety). Well, the insructions say to check frequently, but this is ridiculous. So, I went to check the kitchen traps, 1 has a mouse and the other doesn't, none in the garage. Dropped off the 2 in the outdoor garbage can. Reset the traps and by 9:23pm WHAMP! again. I had another in the computer room (not sure what in the computer room is attracting mice, probably all the junk food. hmmm maybe?). Reset the trap and went to watch a movie. About the time the movie was ending, my computer at work paged me screaming for help. I came in the computer room again, dead mouse, kitchen and garage had mouse tails in the traps too. Took 3 traps outdoors. Reset them and logged on the laptop to fix the problem at work. Then I got on to write this review and WHAMP! the little critter that has been running around in the computer room while I was working is now victim #7.
Seriously, I've used the ancient wooden and metal OUCH that was my FINGER! traps. I've also tried the "giant clothespin" variety, with zero success. I much prefer rodents to stay outside and alive. But, when it comes to my house and my food and my health, I'm going to WIN. This trap is the best.

this is the best mouse trap i ever used. and i have tried a bunch.what makes it so good is the mouse cant get at it from the side.resulting in a kill every time.no caught buy the foot and no escapes.it has a hair trigger so sometimes you have to lift up on the trigger wye you hold down on the set bar,you can see where the trigger engages under the set tap you push down.also put a little peanutbutter about an inch past the bait cup.plus fill the bait cup.the more smell the beter.you will catch it every time.no cripples,no escapes.

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
I keep this locked and loaded with peanut butter and have only had to load the PB once because the mice never get to eat any of it. Pretty gross to find two feet and a tail sticking out on the counter against the back-splash but better than mouse poop on the counter and mice running through the living room. If you have a problem with mice and are over live trapping, recommend this highly and without reservation!

This mouse trap is great. We live in the woods and have a lot of mice around. We keep a couple in the garage and have caught a bunch of mice with each trap. Use CHOCOLATE for bait. Pack it in the cup and the mouse will be dead before it can get it out. Flip up the lever, drop the mouse in the trash and re-use the trap. We don't even need to add more bait. If you have trouble getting it to latch, hold it upside down until it latches. Mouse trap is dog friendly too.

I kept getting a lot of "Jerrys" that decided they wanted in my house. I think that I found where they were coming in at but have worn one of these traps out but they are GREAT for catching and not having to worry about a trap where children might come in contact with it. NO exposed trigger to be easily triggered! A+++

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
Years ago I "invented" a covered trap of my own with a box and an old trap to protect my cats. (yes they have all been "mousers" but I don't want them catching/eating the critters!) That worked, but this is much easier. I've had the same trap for nearly 20 years. The cover is in excellent shape, but the spring on the trap has finally after catching/killing probably 60 mice in all those years, kicked the bucket! Incidentally, I put catfood in the trap & I put it not only in the cup, but behind the cup toward the back of the trap. It gets the mouse an incentive to go beyond the cup & REALLY SPRING THE TRAP! :-D

I live in a very wooded area where in the winter, field mice love to snuggle up in my attic and/or basement ceiling. These traps are WONDERFUL. I don't use the peanut butter method b/c that's just too messy to clean. Prefer not to go near where the little buggers have been. They LOVE LOVE LOVE Vermont Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese. They can smell it from a mile away and as soon as I set the trap, BANG they are caught. The only thing I would recommend is to take it easy when opening the flap. It's plastic and does break off easy.

Check the trap in the package before you buy it, I bought 6. Unfortunately I didn't inspect them until months later, when I needed to use them. Two traps didn't have the catch clip when setting the trap, I have used this product for the past 5 years. Here is one tip I use, mice come in from different locations..unless you know exactly where they are coming in from. Our house was built in 1950, so we have ALOT of possibilities. Set food down, I use potato chips. This gives the mice a sense that food will be available at that specific spot, if there is activity then set a trap w/ peanut butter. MICE LOVE PEANUT BUTTER!!!

The mice came for a visit last week. I tried poison, but I think they just got high on the stuff. I also tried the traditional wooden mouse trap, but they ate the peanut butter and left me a note requesting Ritz crackers next time.
So, I bought these traps. In one day, I caught 2 of the little stinkers. They work like a charm, except the spring is tight and it takes a couple of attempts to lock it in place; however, you can dump the deceased mouse without touching it.

I occaisionally found the mouse snapped it and got away until I started adding duct tape across the upper half of the opening. They can still get in, however the smaller hole slows down the reaction time when trying to duck when the bar is triggered. Now it is rare to see it snap and miss.

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
I bought this specifically so that I did not have to see the mouse once caught. I have used one trap for several years. I don't have mice often, but when I do, they come in twos. I use this trap, and I catch my pests within a night or two. I just turn my head, and dump the mouse in a bag. I use the same trap to catch his other friend the next night. I am finally buying another one, and I have searched everywhere to find this particular trap. Another reviewer commented that these traps are hard to find, and I would agree. Go ahead and buy a couple when you find them.

Husband bought 1 bc he did not like to "see" them like the old fashion ones. Well it has been the most effective trap that I have every seen! Yes inhumane but you dont catch live roaches do you?? I say to use dog food, I found one in the dog food bag & another had a hole in the dog food bones,I removed the bones set the baited trap NO KIDDING 10 MINUTES, whapp got it and especially @ night. It has been a little hard to find more, so when you do... get 2 or 3. Good luck as I am ordering more!

I have been at war with an infestation in my detached garage for 2 days now and in less than 48 hours I have 8 confirmed mouse kills. This trap works great! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the flap that you open and close wears and breaks off easily. I just used packing tape on both sides and it's back in business. I highly recommend using Nutella chocolate spread as the bait! It works amazing! I set the trap again about 10 minutes ago...I'll probably check back in 20 more minutes...hopefully I'll have kill number 9 before hitting the hay.

These things are amazing. We had no idea our mouse problem was as bad as it was until we got these. We caught 17 mice in one month!! It's an automatic thing. We put it down and SNAP, 10 minutes later! We haven't seen a mouse in half a year, ever since. They are easy to use, and do the job well. None of that torturous - just catching the leg business. Snap, it's over. I am THRILLED with this product!! I've never seen a more effective or humane mouse trap. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I tried I really tried (5 years)to control them without killing them:
But when I say them running across my living room carpet I knew it was time to get rid of them totally.
I purchased only one, sorry I didn't get more, but I will.
I placed it under the sink where I saw some turds. One hour later, no joke, I went to look never thinking it would be so soon, I notice a tail and two feet sticking out and not moving.
Wow ONE HOUR, I can not believe it.
I am very sad to have to kill them but I had to there are too many now. So I will go out and buy more for the garage. One good thing is I don't have to worry about my dog sticking his nose in it, I use cheese and he loves the stuff. I almost got my finger in the spring type just nicked it and does that hurt.

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
When the weather turned cold I got some uninvited guests- house mice. Went to my local Ace and picked up 3 of these and 3 packages of the old-timey spring mouse traps. Used peanut butter for bait on all the traps and placed them against the wall and under the kitchen sink. Both types of traps worked. However this covered mouse trap offers several advantages over the old-fashioned type:
1. Easier and safer to set the trap. The old fashion type can supposedly break a finger if it snaps on it while setting the trap, where this covered trap doesn't pose that danger.
2. Harder for the mouse to take the bait in the covered trap without tripping the trap (that happened on a few of the old-fashioned traps)
3. Disposal of the trapped mouse is so much easier, cleaner and neater with the covered trap, especially if you are at all sqeamish about the mice.
While these traps cost 6 times as much as the old-fashioned type, they are worth it. Highly recommended.
