I have seen a couple of mice (not the computer variety) in my house recently. I thought if I did a through cleaning they would leave. But, my 14+ year old dog likes to have food available 24/7. Which is a perfect recipe for mouse-buffet. Last night, I saw 2 mice IN THE CUPBOARD!!! They had chewed open the popcorn, oatmeal, sesame seeds, and who knows what else. I tried to grab them with gloved hands, but that didn't work. So, I got a trash bag and cleared the entire cabinet. I saw this product on the Ace hardware website and thought I would give it a try.
I left the Ace store about 7:50pm and rode my motorcycle around for 30 to 45 minutes. Then I set the 4 traps out using a tiny spot of peanut butter as bait and went in the other room. Couldn't have been 10 minutes later WHAMP! Walked back into the computer room, there was a mouse tail hanging out of the trap (again not the computer variety). Well, the insructions say to check frequently, but this is ridiculous. So, I went to check the kitchen traps, 1 has a mouse and the other doesn't, none in the garage. Dropped off the 2 in the outdoor garbage can. Reset the traps and by 9:23pm WHAMP! again. I had another in the computer room (not sure what in the computer room is attracting mice, probably all the junk food. hmmm maybe?). Reset the trap and went to watch a movie. About the time the movie was ending, my computer at work paged me screaming for help. I came in the computer room again, dead mouse, kitchen and garage had mouse tails in the traps too. Took 3 traps outdoors. Reset them and logged on the laptop to fix the problem at work. Then I got on to write this review and WHAMP! the little critter that has been running around in the computer room while I was working is now victim #7.
Seriously, I've used the ancient wooden and metal OUCH that was my FINGER! traps. I've also tried the "giant clothespin" variety, with zero success. I much prefer rodents to stay outside and alive. But, when it comes to my house and my food and my health, I'm going to WIN. This trap is the best.

This product is defective. It WILL NOT LOCK in position no matter how slowly you pull the lever down with ANY bait (peanut butter) on the trip panel. It's expensive and does not work as good as a regular old cheap trap. Don't waste your money.

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
I am very much a "city girl" when I found myself presented with a mouse in my home I pretty much lost it. Anyhow, I used the old fashion wooden traps for 2 days with no mouse caught. I almost thought maybe I don't have one. I tried this item just to be sure. I set the trap at 2 and by 7 the mouse was caught! I was very happy that he was secured in the trap and his face was not visible to me.

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
Setup was easy using this trap.
Many people say that peanut butter is a good bait. What i I did was get a tiny little piece of frosted cereal painted with peanut butter to make it really enticing.
I set it up where I last saw it walk, near the edge of the flooring beside the stove at around 10am. After about 30-40 minutes, I heard a snap, with some squealing, followed by silence. When I approached the trap, the small mouse inside appeared to be still moving, so I left it in place for about another 20 minutes before I disposed of it, and by that time it was already dead.
Clean up was really easy, with no touching of the dead mouse involved. Of course I still elected to wear gloves for extra measure.
This works as advertised, although I can see where people might be complaining about the structural design's longevity.
I would definitely recommend this product.

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
This year we decided to get aggressive, and set 12 conventional snap-traps. Most of them went untouched for two months. After narrowing down that they were camping in our oven, we moved the traps and caught 6 in one day! However, one tricky mouse kept licking the traps clean without being caught.
After two weeks of this, we started looking for something more effective, and found this trap with many positive reviews. We decided to give it a try, and within 30 minutes we heard a thud. GOTCHA mouse! It was so satisfying.
Location is definitely key to catching the mice, but so is having an effective trap. I think what makes this one work where the others failed, is that the trap is enclosed. This makes the mouse feel more secure about going into it, but also greatly limits the the angles from which the mouse can approach the bait.
Several of the reviews say the trap breaks after a few uses, but I'll have to wait and see. Either way, finally catching that one stubborn mouse already made it worth the investment for me.

Most Falls we get a few mice that manage to sneak into the house as the weather turns cold. I have tried a wide range of options and these are absolutely the best traps I've found. They are highly effective with very few misfires. The only drawback is that the release mechanism is plastic so they eventually need to be replaced after two or three seasons.
Pros
- Easy To Use
- Very Effective
Cons
- Pricey But Worth It

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
This trap is the most effective one I have every used. The design that keeps the mouse out of view also works to ensure that the mice are killed in one shot -- they can't escape and there is none of those legs in a trap incidents. It is harder to set because it has such a swift trigger but with a bit of firm pushing of the lever it sets pretty readily. By far this is the best trap on the market.

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
Every place I've had near a field has a rodent problem in the fall, during the rain or during construction in the neighborhood. Catching the mice in the house before the breed (8 to a litter), is a passion. I'm a mom and grandmom who is very protective of the children in my home and mice carry diseases.

This trap, laced with peanut butter works everytime. I am so happy with the products. I estimate after about a dozen catches, the spring finally looses its functionality, but that could be over a period of two years.

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
We have a 70+ year old farm-house that is very susceptible to these small rodents. After 10 years, we've killed probably 70 mice, the vast majority with this very trap. Yes, they do wear out eventually after so many kills that they won't reset any more, and resetting is an acquired skill. But when you factor in the fact that they are so easy to reuse, they are the cheapest effective alternative. A few times, they have caught the larger "field mice" and the front end pops up to accommodate their size. We have had to use the white ones from Ortho, I believe, and we don't get the same results, twice, actually leaving the mouse trapped, but alive. That is inhumane to me, just like a glue trap, that you have to kill yourself until it starves or chews its leg off. All the other traps are ridiculously ineffective. Buy this trap and you will not be disappointed. Sadly, I wish I could buy a 6-pack at a time.
Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
I have used these traps for about 5 years and was pleased with them. One trick I figured out in setting them (they are tricky) is to hold the trap with the mouse hole facing straight up when trying to set it. But then I bought some more and found they could not be set no matter what I tried. I noticed the new packages had more recent dates in the text than the older packages I still had on hand. Only the new traps proved defective and so I returned them to the store where I had purchased them. The stores where I bought the older version no longer carry this brand at all. Sigh. They were somewhat expensive.

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
I keep this locked and loaded with peanut butter and have only had to load the PB once because the mice never get to eat any of it. Pretty gross to find two feet and a tail sticking out on the counter against the back-splash but better than mouse poop on the counter and mice running through the living room. If you have a problem with mice and are over live trapping, recommend this highly and without reservation!

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
This mouse trap is great. We live in the woods and have a lot of mice around. We keep a couple in the garage and have caught a bunch of mice with each trap. Use CHOCOLATE for bait. Pack it in the cup and the mouse will be dead before it can get it out. Flip up the lever, drop the mouse in the trash and re-use the trap. We don't even need to add more bait. If you have trouble getting it to latch, hold it upside down until it latches. Mouse trap is dog friendly too.

I kept getting a lot of "Jerrys" that decided they wanted in my house. I think that I found where they were coming in at but have worn one of these traps out but they are GREAT for catching and not having to worry about a trap where children might come in contact with it. NO exposed trigger to be easily triggered! A+++

Comments about RECKITT BENCKISER D-Con® Ultra Set® Covered Mouse Trap (1920000027):
Years ago I "invented" a covered trap of my own with a box and an old trap to protect my cats. (yes they have all been "mousers" but I don't want them catching/eating the critters!) That worked, but this is much easier. I've had the same trap for nearly 20 years. The cover is in excellent shape, but the spring on the trap has finally after catching/killing probably 60 mice in all those years, kicked the bucket! Incidentally, I put catfood in the trap & I put it not only in the cup, but behind the cup toward the back of the trap. It gets the mouse an incentive to go beyond the cup & REALLY SPRING THE TRAP! :-D

I live in a very wooded area where in the winter, field mice love to snuggle up in my attic and/or basement ceiling. These traps are WONDERFUL. I don't use the peanut butter method b/c that's just too messy to clean. Prefer not to go near where the little buggers have been. They LOVE LOVE LOVE Vermont Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese. They can smell it from a mile away and as soon as I set the trap, BANG they are caught. The only thing I would recommend is to take it easy when opening the flap. It's plastic and does break off easy.

Check the trap in the package before you buy it, I bought 6. Unfortunately I didn't inspect them until months later, when I needed to use them. Two traps didn't have the catch clip when setting the trap, I have used this product for the past 5 years. Here is one tip I use, mice come in from different locations..unless you know exactly where they are coming in from. Our house was built in 1950, so we have ALOT of possibilities. Set food down, I use potato chips. This gives the mice a sense that food will be available at that specific spot, if there is activity then set a trap w/ peanut butter. MICE LOVE PEANUT BUTTER!!!

I used several other traps and for weeks 3 mouses outwitted me and made me feel like less of a man. With this trap, I caught all of them the same day. Since I did not have peanut butter handy, i used seasoned fries and it worked like a charm.
