From
refinishing wooden furniture to sanding down drywall seams, power belt sanders get
the job done quickly, leave a smooth finish and help save you from back
breaking work. You can determine which type of power sander will suit you best
by identifying the type of material you’ll be working with and how much you’ll
be sanding.
A belt sander is a powerful solution for larger projects or more
frequent sanding. Belt sanders require a steady hand, however, for they can
quickly cut deeper into a surface on the side where pressure is more heavily
applied.
Orbital sanders can handle large and small-scale projects as well, but
are more forgiving when uneven pressure is applied. In addition, they leave a
much smoother finish because they never follow the same sanding pattern twice
in their rotation.
Finally, a palm sander is a great option for small scale jobs
or working in tight areas. Though not quite as powerful as orbit or belt
sanders, since palm sanders are comparably smaller, they can also fit address curved
surfaces more easily. In addition to providing increased project efficiency,
many power sanders also collect residual dust while in use.
