      Comments about SCOTTS Ortho® Dial-N-Spray® Hose-End Sprayer (0836510):

To tweek this sprayer, I removed the screen from the bottom of the inside tube. I made my own fertilizer in a 50 gallon drum mixing it with a pump. I put 20 pounds of worm castings (poop) added fish emulsion, sea kelp, and a few other ingredients. After mixing well, I strained this through a fine cloth inserted into a large funnel put into an empty milk gallon jug. My lawn was in terrible shape and I filled the Ortho Sprayer container to the neck. Set it on 2oz. per gallon and sprayed the lawn every month. It is so easy and I could sit in my lawn chair while spraying. The soil in the yard has been greatly improved and has grown so well, walking on it, it feels like a plush carpet under my feet. When I did have to use commercial poison on my roses, the Sprayer used thick, thin, and medium liquids without any problems. All it needed was removal of the screen on the inside suction tube. I've bought 2 already for myself, and am buying 2 more for friends. This is easier than using a pump type sprayer. I'm 74 and L-O-V-E this Ortho Sprayer.

      Comments about SCOTTS Ortho® Dial-N-Spray® Hose-End Sprayer (0836510):

One problem after 8 years of seasonal use, the trigger does not release. Can't find part diagram to see if there is a spring missing. Those with problems and clogs did not say what they are spraying. I don't know of any liquid fertilizer concentrate that can be added to the bottle, so that is why some may get clogs. Not good for Fungicide either since it is too thick. I mainly use it with Ortho concentrate products such as 'Weed-B-Gon', 'Bug-B-Gone', and 'Round-up'. Also use it for solutions made from Monsanto 'Certainty' selective herbicide. I have 'Moss-b-gon' but haven't tried it yet. Overall, it is a great product. I wish that the spray could be selectable for finer droplets. I would suspect that your line water pressure could also be too high. I know my brother blows up any plastic and sometimes brass hose end sprayers and hosed until he bought a pressure regulator to reduce his line pressure from 100 psi to 60 psi.

      Comments about SCOTTS Ortho® Dial-N-Spray® Hose-End Sprayer (0836510):

This thing is easy to use but it is inconsistent at best. First one that I bought was used with a liquid herbicide and after working great for about 15 minutes it stopped spraying. Something was wrong with the trigger. It was finished. I was puzzled but since it was cheap I bought another. Immediately it leaked badly at the trigger, although the spray was still functional. So this one was finished too! Be smart and buy something else.

          Comments about SCOTTS Ortho® Dial-N-Spray® Hose-End Sprayer (0836510):

I have tried two of these sprayers and have found that they do not disperse fertilizers consistently. Sometimes the fertilizer is mixed with the water, sometimes the water runs clear and no fertilizer is sprayed. (Yes, I have ensured that the sprayer is clean and unclogged.) I've had the same experience with two different fertilizers and several different settings. The sprayer just cannot be trusted and is a waste of time to use.

          Comments about SCOTTS Ortho® Dial-N-Spray® Hose-End Sprayer (0836510):

I just got this sprayer yesterday 9-16-2011. I tested it today and LOVE the wide opening for filling. The dial is very functional allowing for a large range of settings. It NEVER LEAKED one drop as long as I operated it with full water pressure (40-45 pounds). When I cut the pressure in half from the faucet, it did leak. It was NOT DESIGNED for use like that. Taking the end off where it sprayed a full stream, allowed me to spray my trees all the way to the top about 30-35 feet tall. I REALLY LOVE THIS ORTHO SPRAYER.
I own 2 OTHER dial & spray sprayers, but the small opening is hard to fill and must use a funnel which can be messy.

I am assuming those who review this product used the rubber o-ring to seal the hose connection. I've had several of those sprayers over the years and they've been left out in the elements for months yet still work fine every year. If you can't spray far enough, check your water pressure before blaming it on the sprayer.

A total waste of money. It did not spray up high enough into my apple trees. It leaked water around the trigger. It leaked water into the chemical jar. It leaked between the jar and the sprayer on top. The suction screen plugged immediately. It is a total piece of junk.
