I've seen chimney starters used to light charcoal grills on food shows on TV for years. I much prefer charcoal grilling over gas grills, always used lighter fluid and matches to ignite the charcoal -out of sheer habit. Since buying a new charcoal grill, I also bought a chimney starter, why not? I should have done this years ago! No more possibly dangerous lighter fluid splashed around, no more chemical odor! One less thing to buy. I fill the chimney with briquets, light the newspaper stuffed in at the bottom, and in 15 minutes or less the charcoal is ready to cook with - pour it in the grill and go. I highly recommend it and should have bought one years ago. I can't really think of any downside other than one has to be careful handling a can full of live coals.

I'm about to replace my Weber grill--after 14 years, the leg fittings are rusting (my own fault for leaving it outside, uncovered for all that time). These are top quality grills and the kettle design makes the heating predictable and even. I would never switch to propane--I'm ready to go in just 15 minutes and the flavor is unbeatable. And it costs $10 less now than it did in 1994!!

I wanted to buy a Weber chimney, but my favorite [...] store only had the Grill Life Product in stock. I tried it, used it less than a dozen times, and the handle came off with a load of burning charcoal last night! I am sure glad the charcoal ended up in the BBQ.I bought a Weber Chimney this morning. It is much sturdier, particularly at the welds. It lights faster too. I would not recommend the Grill Life chimney to anyone.

I have owned one of these for years. I love the ease of using this chimney. I have a back-up one so I am never without one. I grill all season and it never fails me.
