Had to write a review as I own two PowerShots which have held up for years over many projects. I've used them mostly for stapling Tyvec or tar paper before shingling houses. I've found them sturdy, easy to use and easy to reload. The loop design provides an easy grip when up a ladder. Maybe the other reviewer was using the wrong brand staples.

Used it three times ... out of the box, it would staple only with difficulty; today, it quit working entirely. I squeeze the handle completely without any stapling ... I release the handle and the staple falls out like the bullet out of a cartoon gun. I end up cursing like Yosemite Sam and slammed it to the concrete floor of my garage with all my might ... picture is included below. It is sturdy, no doubt; too bad it won't staple. I'll never own another one...
The Model 8000 was not a gift, and I have not been compensated for writing this review...

the staple gun looks attractive however, the staples do not lay flat on the surface.. Tried several different sizes, even the ace hardware employee helped me... Sorry, I would not buy this item

Comments about PORTER-CABLE PowerShot® Stapler (5700):
I have used the same unit for over 5 years for both home and work. I have used product to repair semi-trailer doors and to do other light to medium duty work in the truck; more often temp repair until full repairs could be affected at a shop. At home I have tacked down peeling linoleum flooring in the laundry room, secure thin electronic component wires to baseboards, tack down stencils for paint applications on wooden furniture as well as drywall.
Being able to put my own weight behind the staple allows this to remain lightweight w/o having to sacrifice power. I provide the power, it provides the expulsion. It also, in my mind, allows for greater control and precision in placing the staple precisely where I want it. The guide that allows for raised applications made securing wire easy w/o fear of stapling through to the bare wire and ruining the wires.
I seldom use the brad nail option because I seldom have need of them. However, when the need arises, it is nice to have it available and not have to pound 2-3 dozen brads by hand.
My only ding is the overwhelming size. It is difficult if not impossible at times to use in tight spaces or stapling from odd positions where I cannot get leverage on the unit, in which case the traditional format is better suited.

Comments about PORTER-CABLE PowerShot® Stapler (5700):
I bought power shot for putting targets up at the gun range. I also bought recommended staples and it jammed constantly, returned it to ace and got a new one no hassles A+++ to ace and new one did the same thing. Later tried a demo at a big box store and it jammed constantly. I wondered why no one copied the design but now I know. It seemed like a great design and it is easy to use but if you buy this buy some good needle nose pliers to go with it. Mine is in the trash and I know have traditional tried and true design and am much happier.

Comments about PORTER-CABLE PowerShot® Stapler (5700):
Will work perfectly if you only use the T type staples as per the directions. All other types and brands of staples will jam the stapler. Reupholstered an entire chair with it, no problems. Also, buy only chiseled edge staples.

Comments about PORTER-CABLE PowerShot® Stapler (5700):
Great stapler, other reviews don't do it justice. This stapler is light, powerful and vary durable. Places the pressure over the staple instead of at the back and drives the staples well with little force and virtually no recoil.

Comments about PORTER-CABLE PowerShot® Stapler (5700):
I had one before the 5700M that lasted for years, then the pressure spring broke. The 5700M didn't even finish the job I bought it for before breaking. Based on what I am seeing among other reviews as well I wish I'd looked before I bought. Hopefully you are. I love the grip though the lack of recoil is wonderful. Too bad it isn't more durable.

Comments about PORTER-CABLE PowerShot® Stapler (5700):
This staple gun is easier to use than most others. The design puts the pressure over the staple head rather than at the back like many others. It has it's own staples that are made for it, don't use ones that aren't made for it and it'll work great. Also has brads that you can use in it.

I've used this stapler to put up insulation in an attic, it worked well to start with but if you dont put a lot of presure on the handle the staples won't go in all the way.
Otherwise a great product.

Comments about PORTER-CABLE PowerShot® Stapler (5700):
I was sold hard by the store sales people that this stapler is the best and so easy to use. Like another writter mentioned, the staples do not become flush with wood. It is a waste of my time to have to finish every staple. Great design concept, but it just needs more power.

Asbestos contractor with experience with staplers. This would not penatrate most wood surfaces. Akward handle position. Flimsy construction. Slide catch broke off after 2nd use. Good for paperweight.
