i could have gotten a plastic product locally but was looking for a metal casing as it is for use in a sun room and the sun tears up plastic. so i paid extra to get this and the casing is not metal it is a painted plastic that looks very much like metal. i am not sure how long it will hold up. the line sticks for the first several times of use but seems to work itself out.
