This is a great little stove for the money. My house is small, 24' x 28' and it heats it to a comfortable temperature of 65-75 degrees without any use of the furnace. It has a handy vent on the bottom front to adjust the air flow to control the temp. I assembled and installed it into the existing fireplace in about 2 hours. I researched many stoves and took a chance on this one because of the low price and my limited income. With the poor economy this thing is saving me a lot of money on natural gas. I figure it will use about a cord of wood for the entire winter. I do recommend using firebrick on the bottom to increase the life of the stove. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy the same one.

Has a long but narrow firebox whether you load from the front or the top, draft and air control are very good as is included damper but it eats wood and produces very little heat for the effort because the sides (where the majority of heat should radiate) is maybe only 1/8 inch thick (no thermal mass, should be 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick) so it cools very quickly meaning you are constantly feeding it.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Cast Iron 96,000 BTU Boxwood Stove (BX26E):
great little stove, but you need to build a fire in it outside first to burn the paint off the stove and the pipe, or it will smoke up the house and smell real bad, but after that it works great. I love it

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Cast Iron 96,000 BTU Boxwood Stove (BX26E):
Good for small rooms, but don't expect to heat more than one. This stove overheats trying to heat 2 rooms. Lots of gaps makes it difficult to stop airflow.

just throw a little sand in the bottom and install grate, load'r up and stand back! The sand will help make it last longer.
Comments about ACE HARDWARE Cast Iron 96,000 BTU Boxwood Stove (BX26E):
The BX26E Box wood stove is a great stove for the money. I works well in my garage man cave and heats in very nicely in the fall/winter Mt. Hood coldness. Easy to set up and heats up quickly. I would not try to use it in a home/small cabin because you will get a little smoke (non sealed lid). It takes a few small fires to break in, but works great and is easy to cook on if the power goes out. Great stove for the money!!!

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Cast Iron 96,000 BTU Boxwood Stove (BX26E):
I recommend breaking it in outside with a good temporary chimney before putting it inside do to the smell that the paint gives. I have it in a shipping container home, and it works great for this application. Has good damper control. I built my own custom grate for it. A good value for the money, my friend is now wanting one for himself for his house. Burning cedar seems to be the best bang for the buck in this stove so far. The only thing missing is a mesh screen to get more heat from the front while burning.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Cast Iron 96,000 BTU Boxwood Stove (BX26E):
Quality material and a very good price, however the hardware was an issue. The flat washers were too small for the holes in the legs. Had to modify larger flat washers and double nutted all the bolts for my own comfort. Otherwise, I can't wait to use it.

GREAT for the money! Loading door could fit alittle better, creates a draft that is not wanted. All things considered it does the job for a cheap price. PS don't forget to build your fires on a couple inches of sand. It save the stoves bottom from burning through.
