I wanted to get rid of the mildew in the shower where the shower door meets up with the shower wall. Once I started to attempt to remove the silicone caulk I realized this was not "normal" caulk removal. I spent hours and multiple tools "screwdrivers, putty knives, utility knives, plastic scrapers" trying to get the silicone off. Then I did some internet research and found this product from the UK in a blog. This product softens the silicone and it comes off so easy! I wish I had used it earlier. Surprisingly, it was difficult to squeeze out of the tube...its clumpy, thick, and does not flow in a consistent bead but you can spread it around if it clumps on you. You must wear gloves. I recommend taping off the area you are working on. Its a bit pricey and its enough to do a full tub/shower but well worth the investment. Right on Ace Hardware!

Disappointed
It is not worth money. It does not break caulk or not dissolve it. [...]

Comments about McKanica® Silicone Caulk Remover Gel (0354):
I tried Mostenbocker's to remove silicone from Vikrell, but it didn't work to remove the thin film left over after scraping off 99.5% of the silicone. Reluctantly, I let my dad order McKanica's. I'm very pleased to report that it works (thanks dad!)!!! It takes several hours for it to work, but it's worth the wait.
I'd highly recommend this product for silicone remval from Vikrell.

Comments about McKanica® Silicone Caulk Remover Gel (0354):
First product I've seen to actually degrade pure silicon enough to remove with a plastic scaper. When applied, I let it sit for well over 3 hours, and could scrape it off. Did not affect gelcoat finish on the shower enclosure. It seems to devulcanize the silicon so it gets crumbly and stiff, so you scrap it off. It usually took more than one soaking to get it all, though. Only problems were: the material is very tough to squeeze out of the tube, and it was barely enough to get the whole job done. Mainly gets only four stars for those reasons.

Comments about McKanica® Silicone Caulk Remover Gel (0354):
I was having a horrible time getting dried clear silicone off a sink surface after installing new drains. I followed the directions, left it on for about 3 hours, and presto! A little gentle scraping/scrubbing and gone. Breaks the bond and softens the silicone. It's a gel, so it doesn't go all over the place or drip, and it's water soluble. Totally worth it to me!

This item was a lifesaver! I had previously bought another caulk remover product that was a liquid and all it did was make a huge mess. This gel went on great and after 3 hours my tub and tile looked new again. There was no caulk residue left on the surface at all. This product is great!

Isn't a miracle worker, but it did soften the caulk quite a bit. Still had to devote time to remove all of the old caulking, but it helps with the bulk.
