Since the white paint bottle broke trying to get the top off, it spilled all over my paper covered workbench. Thus, I was not able to get a 50/50 ratio mix of the 2 bottles & thus it never really dried completely.

The sad old washer rack required extensive scraping and filing as it's damage was bad. Worst spot rusted down to paper clip thickness. Hopefully, repair will allow 6 months use before replacing dishwasher. At third wash, I am seeing multiple areas of repair that have rust spots emerging once again. I am thinking the kit should contain some prep cleaner or recommendations for a solution to handle the rust effectively like NAVAL JELLY that wouldn't remove the covering just the rust.

I followed the directions that came with the product. I removed the really rusted spots with sandpaper as best I could. I applied 2 coats to minor areas and 3 coats to bad areas. I waited 1/2 an hour in between coats, then I waited about 16 hours before I ran my dishwasher. After a week I noticed the touched up spots were starting to come off. I do have a water softener so maybe the salt in the water has something to do with it.

Applied the product as instructed to the rusted parts of the racks. We have used the dishwasher about 10 times since, and so far so good. The stuff stayed on the rusted parts.
We let the glue dry overnight before first use, and we did a quick rinse cycle before actually washing dishes None of glue came off on first use, and so far none came off.

I agree with Judy from Dallas! My dishrack had a lot of spots that had become rusty (my dishwasher is only 30-ish years old) and the cost of, let alone the difficulty in finding, a replacement rack was daunting.
I first applied Rerack in June 2009, and since then have applied it to a few more patches as time allowed. I found it much easier to apply when I sacrificed one of my long-handled paint brushes that I didn't care much about: it was easier to reach between the rack's various prongs & such, and not get the product on my hands (I didn't always remember to paint the areas furthest away from me before painting those closer).
Anyway, except for one patch, the others have all held, and it's now almost June 2010, so I'm ordering some more Rerack to take care of a couple more spots that I overlooked before.
Definitely use a fan/open windows while applying--the fumes are pretty strong.

I am a 63 yr old that is learning how to. This product does as it says. The pre-application instructions are at most, hard to follow when your rack is rusted out in most places. I was not aware of this type of repair until I got onto internet to check on rack replacement. The shock of the cost caused a temporary loss of teeth. After glueing my teeth back into my mouth, I spotted this ad to repair. It is quick, easy to apply after I allowing the soaked area's to dry from alchol application to rusted sites. It does have a smell but, nothing a good set of lungs can't handle with adequate ventilation around you. I do not know just how long it will last but, I figure another month or two would be better than not.
