This is a good product, but do NOT buy if you must have 8 oz.
I measured 5 oz. The lids start to degrade after a couple of uses. The plastic replacement lids are crazy expensive.

I poured batter into these canning jars and baked "cupcakes" in them, frosted them, and then used the lids covered with colorful scrapbook paper for the desert at my daughter's wedding shower. Very fun!

These jars are just what I needed. I use them to send pies in a jar to my son who is deployed overseas. I prepare the jars for canning as usual then prepare and bake the pie in the jar. I seal them right out of the oven, pack them up and mail them. They have arrived safe and fresh every time. My son loves them and always asks for more, yum.

I don't know if the lids are dishwasher safe. I would not try since the seal is so vital for preserving stuff. I made pies in jars for Christmas gifts with these guys. Super cute!

The product it self is fine, however I specifically needed brass colored lids. Unfortunately the color of the lids arrived in silver, so I was forced to return them. Also be aware that if you return your item to an ace store they will try to charge you a 25% restocking fee.

Used these jars to bake mini pies in for Holiday gifts. They were sized just right for individual pies. The Ace price was much cheaper than anything I found on-line, with free shipping to store!

I am going to bake individual mini pies in the jars for gifts and family. You can freeze them to bake anytime. I also use them to put soup in to take to work for lunch. I have plastic lids that I use instead of the canning lids. Never put them in the microwave or oven with any type of lid on them. To keep down on splatter put a paper towel or a paper plate over the jar when microwaving. Caution glass jar can get extremely hot.

These are great for canning "chunky" condiments like the chutneys and preserves we make each year. Easy to fill, easy to empty. They're just the right size for gifts to friends and family. And they're remarkably tough; they survived my small SUV getting rear-ended - not one jar broke!

I purchased 7 dzn jars to use for little pies for shower favors. We made the pies a month in advance and put them in the freezer. A few days before the shower we baked the pies and then put the tops with labels back on and we were good to go!

I baked individual pies in them. Apple Crisp, Pecan, and Banana Cream. They are the perfect size for small amounts. They can be stacked in the frig and take up less space than a whole pie. They can be frozen (depending on the pie - not the Banana Cream, for example) thawed in an oven when put in while oven is cold so you don't have broken glass if putting the pies into a hot oven while still frozen. Easy to carry to picnics, etc. LOTS of ideas.

I USE CANNING JARS TO STORE SOUP IN THE REFRIGERATOR AND ALSO TO FREEZE IN AS WELL AS CANNING. IT IS A CLEAR CONTAINER FOR A NUMBER OF USES. I ALSO USE THE WHITE PLASTIC CAPS FOR THE BALL JARS WHEN I USE THE JARS FOR OTHER PURPOSES EXCEPT FOR CANNING.

Ideal for special diets to freeze individual servings. Cook in quantity and freeze. Sit the jar in a bowl of cold water and in a couple of minutes the food slides right out. Cook sugar free, corn free whatever. Reusable for years. Open the freezer door and see bright colors of berries, peaches, vegetables. I even mash and freeze bananas and eat right out of the jar.

The wide-mouth lid and the low shape are the best things about this product. I use them for fermenting small amounts of peppers, etc with the Perfect Pickler, as well as to store small amounts of leftovers in the fridge. This size is hard to find, and this was the best price I found online.

I am just learning how to can and want to have small, single portions for my long shelf life dishes... No chemicals, just good food will go into the 1/2 pint wide mouth jars. They came quickly and in good condition. Could not ask for better service.

I own about 80 Ball/Kerr wide mouth mason jars. I no longer use plastic for food storage and these jars are great. They are sanitary, easy to clean, sturdy, and freezer safe. I make large batches of food and sauces for weekly meals. Since they are freezer safe, there is no need to go through the canning process. I buy the BPA free plastic lids as well. At first my friends thought the number of jars I had was odd, but now they are also buying them - haha!
