This product is saving us tons of water in our main floor bathroom (even when using the "Full Flush" mode). However, installation can be tricky. Our toilet's original overflow pipe had vertical tapered ribs along its bottom half, making it difficult to get the Hydrofit seated/sealed properly. I even cut/shaved off the ribs. Since the toilet was over 6 years old and needed new seals, I purchased a new flush valve kit (approx $12.50). Before installing the new overflow pipe inside the tank, I attached the Hydrofit directly onto the overflow pipe to guarentee a secure fit. The top two thirds of the Hydrofit's housing easily detaches (with a half turn), allowing me inspect the fit/seal from its inside.

I installed a HydroRight Dual flush valve in my toilet three days ago. Here's what I find about this device.First, In trying to adjust the "blue" water set tab, I could not adjust it low enough to get the "low flush" to fully flush whats in the bowl (one sheet of TP per the instructions). I have to hold the button down a little longer than what it seems I should have to. Secondly, if I use the "low flush". there isn't enough water left in the bowl to do a good "high flush" the next time the toilet requires a "high flush", so I have to flush again. I don't know if this is due to not having the tank fill valve(water level) adjusted correctly or what. I advice that you do not install this unit until you know how to adjust your fill valve or install a new fill valve unit. Thirdly, I find that the flush button shank isn't quite long enough to adequately stay engaged onto the control unit. If you tighten the holding nut to tightly (hand tight per the instructions) the engaging clips slip off the shank. It seems the toilet wall thickness may be a cause for this problem. The button also dis-engages if you should slightly twist the flush button from center. This isn't a bad thing as it prevents the shank from breaking but its inconvenient to have to be re-attaching the button to the control unit if it happens.

Great product and easy install. Have not had it installed long enough to see water savings, but I can tell from the flushes now that it is saving. Installation was a lot easier than I thought and adjusting the water level setting was a breeze too. It sits pretty high in the tank so if you have one of those toilets with a smaller tank measure before installing.

We have a well and a septic system, less water from the well, less water into the septic, and less pump run time[less electric being used]. I think for us - win win.

Reading some of the reviews online, I was hesitant to try this valve. However, while at my local Ace store to pick up a replacement flapper valve, I saw the HydroRight on the shelf and decided to give it a shot. I have been so impressed that I feel obliged to chime in:
1. I am taken aback by the quality of it. Yes, it is mostly plastic, but it is well designed and feels solid. Even the push button "handle" is a good quality.
2. You don't need any sort of tools at all to install it. I spent more time marveling over it than I did installing it.
3. It is easy to fine tune the flushing strength. The smaller flush is actually more powerful than the flush was with my old flapper valve. That, I was not expecting.
4. The pushbutton looks and works great. One quick push is all it takes, there is no need to hold it down or anything. I have a tank with the handle placed at a bit of an angle and the pushbutton looks cool.
Kudos to the inventor(s) and the manufacturer, you knocked this one out of the park.

I read the instructions before beginning & then just installed in less than 15 mins. It's been running now for 3 months with 5 in the house all day long we are saving a bunch of water & the last 2 bills have been less than before. I love that. I am thinking of installing a second one of the top floor toilet. It is a product that turns the toilet that you already have into a dual flush that saves you money while doing that at the same time.

Worked great for 5 months, then the full flush valve started to stick open. It did this about 5 times in a month. Took it out, put old guts back in tank. Returned to store for full refund.

I installed 2 of these units 3 months ago and they work great. I advise you to read the instructions fully and follow them carefully -- especially concerning the calibration, that requires patience and some finessing. However it is an easy installation that should not require any tools. I had to resort to large channel-locks to remove my old hardware though as it was stuck.
Our guests have had no trouble adapting to the 2 button flush concept. And the units have worked reliably since I installed them. I highly recommend this product!!

I will admit that I was hesitant about this product (or any retrofit product) but I choose HydroRight because of the reviews I've read. I don't know what I had been waiting for! This is the ONLY product that I could find that didn't require tank removal, and it took me about 1 hour to install 3 of these in my home. 1000% recommended!!!

Comments about Hydroright(r) Dual Flush Converter (HYR271):
I bought this to use on an old toilet. Easy to attach. But, you better get the fill valve along with it or you'll never get to set the water height in the bowl right. Worked great for a few months and then the valve would not drop to shut off the flow of water. Had to hit the button several times to get it to drop. One night it didn't drop and water ran most of the night and nobody knew it. So much for water savings. The sticking got so bad, 80 percent of the flushes that I just pulled it out and went back to the old flapper and arm. Enough. I bought a water saving toilet and replaced the entire thing. I can't trust this product to stay working longer than 3 months. I tried to shift the cable to make sure there was nothing to bind it. No luck. If you have an older toilet, just replace it. I know it can be a pain, but, better than having it stick open and water runs all night or while your gone for hours or days.

This is a great product for conserving water in the bathroom. No tools required to install the kit, but if you have an old ball float fill valve, you might want to install a new fill valve like the MJSI HydroClean. Those older fill valves interfere with the HydroRight. The dual flush kit actually takes place of the flapper, so it fixes any leaks with that. I highly recommend MJSI toilet products!

I hate to read manuals before I can install stuff. The manual took just two minutes to read and intallation was within five minutes. you can watch the savings in water by watching the short flush while your tank is open. It used just one third the water for short flush compared to the full flush, amazing. Just remember to tell your kids and guests the difference in the two buttons.

I have already converted one of my toilets with the One 2 Flush kit and had no problems. I went with this one because it was cheaper and I didn't have to remove the tank. As stated by another review here, my tank had a lip around the sealing ring. I wouldn't stop leaking and causing the toilet to run. I used sealent in the tank to fix the leak and it still leaked. I will return this one and go with the One 2 Flush and save my time.
