I made the mistake of applying my first coat way to thick using a squeeze on a BUR after it was cleaned of all the gravel. It did indeed crack open and I used a nine 5gal buckets to cover 4sqs. (400ft.)
I was concerned about a mess I had made then I got the idea to use an 18" roof brush. That did the trick; BJ57 went on smooth and even with on cracks and it only took three 5gal. buckets to cover the same area.
It works great if you use the correct brush and pull it on thin.

Don't buy it. I've applied roof coatings all my life. After This product dried it cracked open like a parched lake bed. Big cracks opened up all over. I used about 3/4 of the 5 gal can then sealed it up again. When I re-opened it a week later, the remaining product was hard and cracked, just like the roof. It was a waste of money. Maybe it was a defective batch.

I used this product to seal a new footer prior to installing forms and pouring a 10" basement wall on top of the footer. The product applies very easily (I used a brush), and it took 3-4.5 gallon buckets (13.5 gallons total) to complete the entire footer for my new home (two coats). I would use this product again.

Product works great to put a waterproof seal on anything. I used it to coat a new foundation wall on an addition, and I also painted it above grade on the wood sheathing for extra waterproofing. The stuff dries to a rubbery black finish. No smell and dries pretty quick.
