Upcycled Plant Hangers

Make color bloom in any room when you repurpose your old glass light fixtures as brightly colored plant hangers. Ace can help make this project easy with the paint, supplies and expert advice you need.

What You'll Need:

  • Clark+Kensington®
    interior paint
  • 1" angled paintbrush
  • Paint tray and liner
  • Paint stir stick
  • Scrap wood
  • Twine or yarn
  • Scissors

First, stir the can of paint and pour it into the paint tray. Then place the fixtures upside-down on the scrap wood to give you easy access to all the surfaces you're going to paint.

Helpful Tip:

Protect your paint tray with a disposable plastic liner to make cleanup easier

Now, take the small angled brush and apply 2–3 coats of Clark+Kensington® Paint Ocean Blues 35B-4, giving each coat time to dry before the next one. Make sure the coverage is smooth and consistent, and free of any drips or runs.

Once the paint has dried, attach three lengths of twine or yarn around the lip of each fixture and tie them tightly. Now your new planters are ready to hang! You'll love how this new pop of color perks up any room. Your local Ace is always the perfect place to start any interior design project.

If your home was built prior to 1978, check for lead-based paint before you sand or scrape any painting surfaces. Call 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead for more information.
