Jonathan Green's Pasture Grass Mixture contains elite forage grasses that are palatable and easy for grazing animals to digest. This is the ideal grass seed mixture for paddocks and pastures. Jonathan Green's Pasture Mixture is the best choice for grazing horses and other livestock because these grasses are free of endophytes which have been known to cause illness in some grazing animals if the majority of their diet contains endophytic turfgrasses. The best time to apply seed is mid-August to mid-October while the ground is still warm and the nights are cooler. Mid-March through mid-May is the next best time to plant, when the soil temperature reaches 55 degrees + Fahrenheit and the temperature of the air stays consistently warm. Apply half of the seed with a large rotary tow-behind spreader, one designed for large acreage and uneven terrain. Broadcast half the seed in one direction (north to south) and the second half of the seed in the opposite direction (east to west.) Do not bury the seed more than 1/4 of an inch deep.
