Nylon is our strongest material for common use and considered a high quality rope. A distinct characteristic is it's high-stretch elasticity, stretching up to 40 percent before breaking. The high elasticity enables the rope to absorb shock loads, an ability to return to it's original length after being stretched. Nylon does not float and will absorb water but is flexible with good knot retention.
