Arcadia Publishing Plumstead Township History Book

Plumstead Township's convenient location along the Delaware River and early thoroughfares has played a pivotal role in its development through the years. Crossroad communities and hamlets emerged around the mills, taverns and general stores that served the area's mostly agrarian community. Plumstead Township features these communities, along with photographs of many early families of English, German and Scottish-Irish descent. The merging of these cultures by the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and the development of new industries and specialized farming, such as dairy operations, are also highlighted.
