Our love for community and service has been the foundation of our success as a brick-and-mortar business for over 120 years. Mike and Mary (Whitmore) Cripe, along with their sons Michael and David, continue to expand and evolve. Historically, hardware stores have served as general stores meeting the needs of their communities. With that spirit in mind, we decided to put a modern twist on the concept, incorporating trends in fashion, gifts, and home goods. This idea led to the creation of "Water Street," named after the address of our first store, which opened in Wilmington in 1896. Our goal is to offer an inspiring and delightful selection of items for your home and lifestyle, making your visit to the hardware store a memorable family event.
