Founded in 1896, we are now a fifth-generation, family-owned and operated local hardware store with a rich history. We are dedicated to being "the helpful place" by providing knowledgeable advice, friendly service, and quality products. Our services include propane refills and exchanges, custom paint mixing, screen and window repairs, key cutting, a full-line greenhouse, and more. Traditionally, hardware stores have been known as "general stores," meeting various community needs. In 2016, we expanded again and introduced "Water Street," a modern take on the general store, named after the address of our first location in Wilmington, Illinois. Our goal is to offer the community a unique selection of inspiring and delightful items for your home and lifestyle, bringing back the charm of when visiting the hardware store was a family event.
