Founded in 1896, we are a fifth-generation, family-owned local hardware store with a rich history. We are dedicated to being "the helpful place" by offering knowledgeable advice, friendly service, and quality products. Our services include propane refills and exchanges, custom paint mixing, screen and window repair, key cutting, a full greenhouse line, and more. Historically, hardware stores have often served as "general stores," meeting various community needs. In 2016, we expanded again, adding a modern twist to the general store concept with the opening of "Water Street," named after the address of our first store in Wilmington, Illinois, in 1896. Our goal is to provide a unique selection of inspiring and delightful items for your home and lifestyle, bringing back a time when a visit to the hardware store was a family event.
